With more than 60 shows scheduled in the next year, every month is filled with opportunities to enjoy excellent live performances in theater, music and dance plus an art gallery in our expansive lobby highlighting regional artists and student exhibits. Tickets go on sale August 6, 2018 at 8:30am (central time).
You will feel comfortable at The Reif, whether you want to dress-up for an elegant night on the town or make last minute plans to see a live show and come in jeans. If you have never been to The Reif, add it to your bucket list, if you haven’t been to The Reif in some time, come see us again and rediscover the excitement of live entertainment.
Our shows have a widespread appeal and feature exceptional talent from classical-music artists to Broadway bands. In addition, The Reif is home to local community theater juggernaut Grand Rapids Players producing two exceptional shows annually along with performances by another outstanding partner, Itasca Symphony Orchestra with shows from adult and student artists.
The Reif has two great stages. The Wilcox theater has 700 seats all with ample leg room and excellent sight lines. Ives studio theater is an intimate space for 200 which can be transformed to incorporate small events by contracting the seats providing an open plan for coffee-house style performances.
“This is an incredible lineup of shows,” said Shantel Dow, Reif executive director. “We engage artists who have wide-spread appeal, and present exceptional talent within varied genres. The Reif has two beautiful theaters with excellent sightlines and our goal is to make Grand Rapids a northern destination for culture and entertainment for everyone.”
Live theater, music and dance include perennial favorites like Eagles tribute featuring The Fabulous Armadillos and Collective Unconscious, Rock and Roll Christmas, and Reif Nutcracker, plus new shows like Broadway’s Rock of Ages and Diamond Rio. Showcasing Minnesota musicians through a partnership with KAXE CenterStage Minn. brings up-and-coming talented Indie artists to the Ives theater the first Thursday of each month Sept-May.
“Family friendly entertainment is also high on our priority list,” said Dow. “Many of these shows are not only scheduled for evening performances but we host day-shows for regional school children through our Children’s Series. We lower the price per seat and offer transportation scholarships to reduce barriers to the school system.”
