Oz Friends Bucket List – Grand Rapids, MN

This summer we are having fun with our Dorothy and her Oz Friends blazing new trails; so we created a summer bucket list for you to recreate your own adventure up north in Grand Rapids, MN. While we know there is no place like home, we think Grand Rapids, MN feels like home to any visitor. Grand Rapids provides an abundance of outdoor recreation where you can seek safe social distancing with your friends and family.


There are many places in Grand Rapids, MN to paddle. There are over 1,000 area lakes and a mighty Mississippi River to make memories on. Be like the Dorothy (aka Chelsey Jo Johnson) and the Cowardly Lion (aka Andy Klockow) and paddle at Tioga Pit located with the Tioga Recreation Area. For those that seek adventure cycling, Tioga Recreation Area, is perfect for you! The NEW purpose built, single track, multi-level mountain bike trail is perfect for all ages. If paved trails are more your speed, we suggest you check out the Mesabi Trail and Get Fit Itasca map of in town bike trails. Mountain Bike rentals and helmets courtesy of Ardent Bicycle. Dorothy and the Oz Friends enjoyed a round of golf at Sugarbrooke Golf Course. Grand Rapids is home to three championship courses we refer to Grand Lakes of Golf: Sugarbrooke Golf Course, Pokegama Golf Course & Eagle Ridge Golf Course. Each course is located on a stunning northern Minnesota lake. Enjoy 9 or 18 holes, walk or take a cart-your choice. All three courses also have on-sight beverages and food to enjoy after your round.

Brew Tours

Grand Rapids is home to two breweries and a wine bar. The Oz Friends enjoy a behind the scenes tour and beverages at Klockow Brewing Company. Klockow brews their own beer and serves non-alcoholic options as well; they have food trucks and live music at their location on a regular basis. Rapids Brewing Co is the newest brewery that is located in downtown. Rapids Brewing brews in house, features live music and offers food on site. Unwined Up North is a wine bar that features Minnesota made wines. Unwined offers small plates, flatbreads, sandwiches and salads as well. Find more places to Eat & Drink HERE.

Off Road

In the Grand Rapids, MN area you will find over 200 miles of ATV trails to ride in Minnesota’s nature. The Oz Friends found out how awesome side by sides are at getting deeper into the forest. An exhilerating ride that was made possible by R&R Rental, who rents recreation equipment like side by sides, jet skis and pontoons. The four seater Rzr provides plenty of room for the entire family.
