Party in the Park
The goal of Party in the Park is to provide the opportunity for people to come together and celebrate our community and each other with families of all income levels being able to enjoy a day of FREE activities for individuals of all ages. At the core, this event is bringing community together, without financial divide, for everyone to enjoy a day of celebration, inclusiveness, and involvement and being able to bring a family of 4, 7, or 10 without fear of not being able to participate or pay for that day. The broader goal includes informing our residents of programs and initiatives in their area that they can either utilize or become involved in. It also promotes the sense of community and engagement to our youth volunteers and through actively seeing their community at work. There will be a 5K, softball tournament, youth and adult cornhole tournaments, Ojibwe art and culture displays, carnival games, pie-eating contest, performances by school choir and band, local dance studio(s), local Ojibwe drum teams, a powwow, free pancake breakfast, ice cream treats, food trucks, tractor rides, a petting zoo, etc. All attendees will be put in drawings for donated prizes. Proceeds left over from the expenses will be donated, on behalf of the sponsors/donors, to local groups/organizations such as Boys and Girls Club of Leech Lake Area, ISD 317 music boosters, athletic boosters, Full Service Community Schools, STEP Coalition, etc in exchange for their volunteerism at the event. We work to collaborate with many local businesses, organizations, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and the school to make this day a success for our community while also providing information about resources and programs available to our residents.
