Forest History Center Tours, Trolley Ride and Draft Horse Experience

We’ve extended our season at the Forest History Center.

Saturdays through November 18, join us for one of our three Draft Horse programs:
– 9:30am – 11am – Great Northern Forest History Tour: An in depth narrated tour on our horse-drawn trolley
– 11:30am – 12:30 pm – Trolley Ride: A relaxing ride through the Forest History Center
– 1:30pm – 3pm – Draft Horse Experience: Get a hands-on opportunity to work with our gentle draft horses!

Two strong and gentle draft horses will pull a wheeled trolley on a narrated tour of the Forest History Center. Our guides will describe the geology, the landscape, and the human history that make up our 180-acre site. You’ll visit the Mississippi River, our old Homestead ruins, our turn-of-the-century logging camp and river drive camp, and a 1934 Minnesota Forest Service cabin. At the end of the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to climb our 100-foot fire lookout tower for a bird’s-eye view of the Forest History Center. Participants will be seated on a covered, horse-drawn trolley.

Minnesota Historical Society Members and seniors save 20%, free for children 4 and under.
