STONEWALL is a drama about a fictional young man caught up during the 1969 Stonewall Riots. Danny Winters (Jeremy Irvine) is forced to leave behind friends and loved ones when he is kicked out of his parent's home and flees to New York. Alone in Greenwich Village, homeless and destitute, he befriends a group of street kids who soon introduce him to the local watering hole The Stonewall Inn; however, this shady, mafia-run club is far from a safe-haven. As Danny and his friends experience discrimination, endure atrocities and are repeatedly harassed by the police, we see a rage begin to build. This emotion runs through Danny and the entire community of young gays, lesbians and drag queens who populate the Stonewall Inn and erupts in a storm of anger. With the toss of a single brick, a riot ensues and a crusade for equality is born. -- (C) Roadside Attractions

She helped her great grandmother with her braided rugs and she sewed doll clothes at her grandma's treadle sewing machine.
She took a one-hour dyeing fabric class at a Duluth quilt show about 10 years ago and she was absolutely enthralled. She adds and subtracts color by using dyes and discharge pastes...leaves, twigs, stencils and paints. Nancy thinks it is a blessing to start with a blank piece of fabric and give it a voice.

The instructor will provide all of the supplies needed to take this class, including paint, brushes, palettes, paper, boards, etc. Registrants will be asked to bring some basic supplies (common household items). There will be a 30 minute lunch break mid-day. The instructor has been painting and teaching in the Duluth area for over a decade, and has a step-by-step teaching style. June 28, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Reif Performing Arts Center, 720 NW Conifer Dr, Grand Rapids, MN 55744, USA

Written by comedy legend Steve Martin, this long running Off Broadway absurdist comedy places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before the renowned scientist transformed physics with his theory of relativity and the celebrated painter set the art world afire with cubism. In his first comedy for the stage, the popular actor and screenwriter plays fast and loose with fact, fame, and fortune as these two geniuses muse on the century’s achievements and prospects, as well as other fanciful topics, with infectious dizziness.

    June 29, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Grand Rapids Area Library, 140 NE 2nd St, Grand Rapids, MN 55744, USA

Join Free Range Food Co-op and Jon Steinman for a talk and book signing at the Grand Rapids Area Library.

Grocery Story is for everyone who eats. Whether you strive to eat more local and sustainable food, or are in support of community economic development, Grocery Story will leave you hungry to join the food co-op movement in your own community.

Through penetrating analysis and inspiring stories and examples of American and Canadian food co-ops, Grocery Story makes a compelling case for the transformation of the grocery store aisles as the emerging frontier in the local and good food movements. Author Jon Steinman:

    1. Deconstructs the food retail sector and the shadows cast by corporate giants

    2. Makes the case for food co-ops as an alternative

    3. Shows how co-ops spur the creation of local food-based economies and enhance low-income food access.
