Lost 40 Sound Garden

Celebrate nature and the changing Fall Season on Halloween with “A Concert You Can Walk Through!”
Free and Family Friendly! A Self-guided installation with roving live performances along the forest trails.
Join us for the premiere of composer / director JG Everest’s latest outdoor, site-specific sound + performance installation, composed and designed for the “LOST 40” in the Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota.
A “Sound Garden” is a spatial “symphony”, made up of dozens of small wireless speakers, each playing a different part of the whole piece of music, spread out throughout the forest, and accompanied live by roving members of the Free Range Orchestra.
The Lost 40 is one of the very few old-growth white pine forests in Minnesota – a powerful and magical place. The “Lost 40” Sound Garden installation will also feature site-specific poetry and visual art, distributed along the wooded trails.
Also join us for free Art + Nature workshops on Saturday Oct 24 to create elements for the installation.
