100+ Women Who Care
100+ Women Who Care hosted by the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation.
Pre-register! https://form.jotform.com/
This community-driven initiative brings together women who want to make an immediate and meaningful impact. The concept is simple: one hundred women gather, and each attendee donates $100. Together, they pool their resources to raise at least $10,000 in a single evening for a local nonprofit organization.
During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to nominate a nonprofit they are passionate about. Three organizations will be randomly selected from the nominations, and a representative—often the person who nominated them—will present a brief overview of the nonprofit’s mission and impact. After hearing the presentations, attendees who contributed will vote for the organization they believe should receive the evening’s collective donation. The nonprofit with the most votes will be awarded the full amount raised that night.
The Organization being nominated must:
• Be 501c3 with current IRS Certified Tax-Free Status
• Be in existence for a minimum of 18 months
• Benefit the Itasca County area and/or be located in the Itasca Area
o This includes within Itasca County and bordering communities of Hill City, Keewatin, Northome, Remer, etc
• Churches are not eligible unless they are a fiscal agent for a community resource
The nomination process is as follows:
• Any person who makes a (minimum) $100 donation will be provided with the opportunity to nominate one nonprofit organization for submission for a chance to be awarded the total donations for the event.
o No paid employees may nominate their own organization.
• The nomination must include:
o Name of nominating member
o Name of nonprofit organization
o Non-profit mission statement and/or purpose
o Identify the population served and how the organization benefits the Itasca Area
o Non-profit primary contact name, phone number, and email
How does the evening work?
• A donor arrives and contributes a $100 (minimum) donation by cash or check
o This allows them entry into the event, the opportunity, if they choose, to nominate one non-profit, and one voting ticket
• Nominations will be accepted from 6:00 pm until 6:50 pm
• At approximately 6:50 pm, three submissions will be drawn at random
• The person who is listed on the form as the nominator will be invited to speak for 3-5 minutes describing the non-profit they nominated in an effort to garner voting support. *It is encouraged that this person be well prepared to speak in front of the room of attendees.
• At approximately 7:05 pm, voting will begin between the three randomly drawn non-profit submissions.
o This is done with the ticket the attendee is given at entry
• At approximately 7:15 pm, the votes will begin to be counted
• At approximately 7:25 pm, the winner will be announced and a photo taken
• At approximately 7:30 pm, a large group photo with all attendees will be taken
