DETOUR ANNOUNCEMENT:

B&B ATV Trail

The bridge is being replaced over Balsam Creek along the snowmobile and ATV trail corridor north of Balsam. Please stay out; Do Not Enter; Do Not Go Around Barricades!  Heavy equipment operating.  Follow the posted detour from Balsam Store along County Highway 8, 336 and 333.

Balsam ATV Trail Detour

The Itasca County area offers thousands of acres of federal, state, county and industrial forest land that are open to off-highway vehicle riding, and several designated trails. Forest or logging roads are an excellent choice for ATV/OHV use as well. In Itasca County, there are over 200 miles of ATV trails to ride. Itasca County has opened up all of their roads (except Cty Rd 75 – Scenic State Park), and the City of Grand Rapids has also opened up their streets to ATV travel (except the Downtown Business District – 1st Ave, Pokegama Ave, and 1st Street). To access the downtown businesses it is suggested to ride 3rd Street to 3rd Ave to 5th Street. ATV’s can park in the Central School parking lot and the public parking lot across from Super One.

Please note: each municipality or level of government has a different management plan that governs off-highway vehicle use on their lands. Please check with below links before you ride:
