Just minutes from Grand Rapids, the Green Heron Bed and Breakfast is looking forward to welcoming you to the shores of Pokegama Lake and the North Woods of Minnesota. We’re a cozy inn, open year round, with an old European country feel and modern American amenities. When you come down the drive you’ll find it hard to believe you were just in town, and are only minutes away from bike and ski trails, golf courses, fishing or paddling, hiking and shopping.

We have two very comfortable guest rooms, each with private baths, views of the lake and easy access to our fantastic sandy beach. Included during your stay is a full breakfast, use of kayaks, canoe and fire pit on the beach. There’s mooring available if you rent a boat from town or have your own, and a grill if you’d like to cook your catch. Inside there’s a beautiful library with a variety of music, books, movies and games for you to enjoy, or just to escape to for work (if you must). Gardens surround the house and provide for lots of bird watching.

Pokegama is a lake with many personalities. Depending on the season and time of day you may experience visits from our resident bald eagles, great blue herons, loons and many other ducks (all of our nesting boxes are occupied this year) and our namesake…green herons, which have a rookery in our side yard. Deer have even been known to peek in windows while wandering through. Other times you can experience the excitement of fishing tournaments, fireworks displays, hockey tournaments, boiling maple syrup…the list goes on and on.

Innkeepers, Chris and Johnnie Fulton, look forward to meeting you and helping you have that perfect vacation that you’ll want to make a tradition.
