There is a rich art and culture heritage in Grand Rapids. Several organizations and individuals have helped create Grand Rapids as a thriving art community. The Grand Rapids Arts created the First Friday Art Walk where they connected artists and businesses for a free monthly event. The Grand Rapids Arts & Culture Commission has created new public art in downtown that features Minnesota’s nature, the Mississippi River, and indigenous art. The MacRostie Art Center hosts monthly art exhibits that features local and Minnesota artists. The Reif Arts Council brings over 40 professional theater performances to Grand Rapids each year.
