GRHS Spring Musical Bye, Bye Birdie

”Bye Bye Birdie” centers around the character Conrad Birdie, a rock and roll idol. Conrad’s managers, Albert Peterson and Rosie Alvarez learn that their client has been drafted into the Army. Peterson and Alvarez also happen to be a young couple who has been dating for years. While Rosie would prefer that Albert settle down and become an English teacher, she concocts a plan as part of a publicity stunt, that will bid Conrad a “typical American teenage girl goodbye with a public farewell kiss.” Rosie randomly selects the name of the “lucky” teenager from Sweet Apple, Ohio, Kim MacAfee. Kim’s steady boyfriend, Hugo Peabody, is less than thrilled about Conrad Birdie’s visit. But the girls of Sweet Apple, Ohio, are eagerly anticipating the visit.

The play opened on Broadway in 1960, starring Chita Rivera and Dick Van Dyke as Rose and Albert. The play opened on Broadway in 1960, starring Chita Rivera and Dick Van Dyke as Rose and Albert.

General Admission Tickets are only available at the door the night of the show. $10 adults, $5 students

Thursday, April 26 – 7:30 p.m.

Friday, April 27 – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 28 – 7:30 p.m.

The show runs approximately two hours with an intermission.
